TST announces new limits for appeal deposits.

The Superior Labor Court has released the amounts for the limits on appeal deposits that will come into effect on August 1, 2020. According to the new table, the deposit limit for filing an ordinary appeal will be R$ 10,059.15. In cases of appeals to the Superior Labor Court, motions for clarification, and appeals in rescissory actions, the amount will be R$ 20,118.30.

The new values are listed in Act 287/2020 and were adjusted based on the accumulated variation of the National Consumer Price Index – INPC/IBGE in the period from July 2019 to June 2020.

Based on the precedent established by the Supreme Federal Court in case 679 of general repercussion, the requirement of a prior deposit as a condition for the admissibility of an extraordinary labor appeal is incompatible with the Federal Constitution.
